Help with the app
Frequently asked questions
How do I get started?
Choose Open Photo and select a TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or HEIC. Pick a reflection mode and source half or slice. Drag to frame, pinch or Option-scroll to zoom, then choose Preview Reflection. Save Reflection creates a separate TIFF.
Why does it ask me to approve a folder?
The Mac app needs your permission to create new files in a destination folder. When Allow Saving to This Folder appears, choose Allow Saving Here. The app remembers the folder for later saves and future launches. If you cancel, nothing is saved.
Where is my saved photo?
Save Reflection puts it beside the file you opened in Mirror It Studio, using a name such as Photo-MirrorIt.tif or Photo-MirrorIt-2.tif. The completion dialog shows the full path and offers Show in Finder. Save As lets you choose another destination.
What if the folder is read-only or unavailable?
Reconnect an external drive if necessary. Choose Save As to use a writable local folder, and approve that destination when asked. Your opened source remains loaded if a save fails.
Does it find my original Lightroom photo’s folder?
The app knows the location of the exported photo you open, not the location of the original in Lightroom before export. Export into the original folder if you want the files together.
How do I use it with Lightroom Cloud?
Export a rendered, full-size TIFF in sRGB (preferred) or a JPEG from Lightroom so your edits are included. Open that export in Mirror It Studio, save the reflection, then use Add Photos in Lightroom to import it. Album placement and cloud syncing are handled by Lightroom.
Can I use RAW files or videos?
Open a rendered TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or HEIC. RAW files, video, editable layers, and Lightroom settings files are not supported.
What bit depth and color space does it save?
The result is an 8-bit sRGB TIFF with lossless LZW compression, including when the input is 16-bit. The saved image is flattened. Export sRGB from your editor to avoid unnecessary color conversion.
Will it change my source photo?
No. The opened source is preserved. Default saving creates a separate result and uses numbered filenames if needed. Save As can replace another existing destination only after the save dialog confirms replacement; it cannot overwrite the opened source.
How do water and kaleidoscope modes work?
For a two-part reflection, choose Left / Right or Top / Bottom and a source half. Water uses a horizontal reflection. For kaleidoscope patterns, select 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 segments and choose the active source slice.
Does the app need an account, camera, or Photos-library access?
No. It processes selected files locally, with no app account, camera access, or full photo-library access required.
How do I get help with an App Store purchase?
Choose App Store purchase in the form below. For a refund, Apple handles the request through reportaproblem.apple.com. Do not send your password or full payment details.
