Why is my photo loading slowly from the library?
Unmounted is optimized for RAW and high-resolution files. When you choose a photo from your library, it requests a 4096px version using Apple's image pipeline — much faster than decoding the full RAW file. If you're selecting a very large file over iCloud, it may take a moment to download. Make sure you have a good internet connection and Photos has finished syncing.
The auto-detection didn't find all my photos. What should I do?
Tap "Add Box" in the footer bar, then draw a rectangle over any photo that was missed. You can also press Re-scan to try detection again. For best results, photograph the album page straight-on with good, even lighting — avoid harsh shadows across the prints. If photos overlap significantly, the manual draw tool gives you the most control.
How do I adjust a crop box after drawing it?
Drag the white corner squares to resize from any corner, or drag the capsule-shaped edge handles to move a single edge. Drag the interior of the box to move it without resizing. Long-press a box to bring it to the front if it's buried under another box.
My crop boxes are moving to the wrong photos after I delete one.
Update to the latest version of Unmounted — this was fixed in a recent update. Each crop box is now tracked by a stable identifier so deleting one never shifts the others.
Where are my captions saved?
Captions are embedded as IPTC Caption-Abstract metadata directly in the image file before it's saved to your Photos library. You can see them in the Photos app under the ⓘ info button, in Lightroom's Description field, or in any app that reads IPTC metadata.
Can I edit a photo after it's been saved to my library?
Once saved, images live in your Photos library like any other photo and can be edited there. Unmounted currently doesn't re-open previously saved images — use the Photos app or another editor for subsequent edits.
What file formats does Unmounted support?
Unmounted works with any image format your iPhone can open: JPEG, HEIC, PNG, TIFF, and ProRAW (DNG). Camera photos are captured as HEIC by default. The app uses Apple's PHImageManager for efficient loading so RAW files don't cause long waits.
How do I rotate all photos at once?
On the Detected Items screen, use the ↺ and ↻ rotation buttons in the footer. The rotation is applied to all extracted photos at crop time — so the crop boxes stay in the right position on screen, and every resulting image is rotated when you tap Crop.
Does Unmounted require an internet connection?
No. All detection, editing, and processing happens entirely on your device. No images are ever sent to a server. An internet connection is only needed if your photos are stored in iCloud and haven't been downloaded to the device yet.
What iOS version does Unmounted require?
Unmounted requires iOS 17.0 or later. The advanced instance segmentation detection uses Vision APIs introduced in iOS 17.
