Why do I see more than Wi-Fi and Ethernet?

macOS exposes physical and virtual interfaces. VPN tunnels, AirDrop/Continuity, bridges, and sharing interfaces can all have byte counters. The app labels these so they are easier to understand while still showing the raw interface name.

Does the app capture my traffic?

No. Network Interface Monitor reads byte counters from macOS interfaces. It does not inspect packet contents, DNS requests, websites, files, or messages.

How do I hide it to the menu bar?

Click the red close button or choose Hide to Menu Bar from the menu bar menu. Monitoring continues while the main window is hidden.

How do I show the window again?

Open the menu bar item and choose Show Network Interface Monitor.

What does Start at Login do?

It asks macOS to launch the app when you sign in. You can turn it off from the same menu item.

Why do speeds differ from my internet provider speed test?

The app shows current local adapter throughput, not maximum possible bandwidth. A speed test measures a specific transfer to a test server under current network conditions.
